Animals That Travel With Jack Hanna at Wolf Creek Mill Mohican Wildlife Weekend

The 15th Annual Mohican Wildlife Weekend returns this April 22nd-24th.   This year is even more eventful with 11 program sites and well over 30 programs to entertain nature lovers at all levels and ages.

wildlife2016x175This year’s theme is “Mohican Biodiversity.” Kickoff with take place, 6pm – 7pm, at the Gorman Nature Center. The keynote speaker will be semi-retired, former director of the Richland County Park District, Steve McKee. There is also a raffle to be held that night. Some of the prizes include overnight stays at the Mohican State Park Lodge, Landoll’s Mohican Castle, jewelry, gift certificates and more.

Most events are free and open to the public. Some of the highlights include, “Animals That Travel With Jack Hanna” at the Wolf Creek Grist Mill. There is a small admission of $3 per person. The mill will also host the Ohio Division of Wildlife with “Snakes of Ohio.” Mohican State Park will tempt the taste buds with “Edible Insects” and a Wildflower Hike. Head up to Mohican-Memorial State Park Forest’s Discovery Center for information and walk about “Biodiversity in the Forest.” Pleasant Hill Lake Park will also host many events, including “Mushroom ID.”

Some stores have been open for over 50 years. Stroll down the sidewalk and marvel at the Victorian architecture. It is walking through history.
