Rabbit Run Theater, one of Ohio’s few remaining barn theaters, kicks off the 2014 summer season, Friday, June 6, with Michael Fryan’s comedy Noises Off.

A play within a play, Noises Off takes a madcap look at a mediocre acting troupe who allow their personal lives to overshadow their production of an English farce, Nothing On.  Just hours before opening, the troupe’s overzealous director is trying to fit in a final dress rehearsal amidst forgotten lines, misplaced actors and much melodrama.Noises_Off

One of the funniest farces ever written, the show ran for almost five years in London’s west end and ran for over 500 performances on Broadway.  Noises Off returned to Broadway in 2001 with a cast that included Patti LuPone and Peter Gallagher.

Bob Kilpatrick plays the part of Lloyd, the director of this rag-tag group of actors.  Playing the role of Fred, who also plays Philip in Nothing On, is Dennis Dixon, whose wife, Belinda (Flavia), is portrayed by Nancy Shimonek Brooks.  David Malinowski is in the role of Garry (Roger), and his love interest, Dottie, is played by Sandy Kosovich Peck.  The young and near-sighted Brooke (Vicki) is portrayed by Myrissa Yokie with assistant stage manager, Poppy, performed by Evie Koh.  The frequently intoxicated and somewhat over-the-hill actor Selsdon is played by Roger Principe with James Lane performing the role of Tim the stage manager.

Noises Off is directed by Ann Hedger, programming coordinator at The Fine Arts Association.  Hedger has been associated with Rabbit Run since the 1980’s, and over the years she has directed 11 productions at Rabbit Run with Noises Off making her 12th directorial effort.
