Around The World at The Wolf Creek Mill’s International Wine Festival

Loudonville, Ohio – June 7th, 2014 is the 11th International Wine Festival at the Wolf Creek Grist Mill from noon-11pm. This is the highlight event of the year to kick off the summer. Good food, wine, music and more will entertain all of the senses. This wonderful event also helps the Mill’s operations.

Ohio wines to be featured will be D&D Smith Winery, Paper Moon Vineyards, Troutman Vineyards, and The Winery at Wolf Creek. In addition to the four Ohio Wineries, wines from around the world will be available at the festival. All wines can be sampled and bought by the glass or bottle. Paper Moon wines will be highlighted in the popular food pairing session, samples include what wine pairs with: Texas Caviar, gourmet mini cheesecakes and more. Mark Smith, Founder and President of Wolf Creek Mill says that they are excited about this year’s event, “We’re bringing in a lot of new international wines this year that we’re really excited about in addition to the crowd favorites from last year to put our total count at over 100 wines. We’ll also have five different beers available.”

New to the International Wine Festival this year are horse drawn carriage rides through the Wolf Creek Mill. Other activities include a performance by the popular Lake Erie and mainland performer, Steve Brownell. Smokin’ Bros BBQ and Squeels on Wheels BBQ will provide melt in your mouth deliciousness. Marvel at the creations of the Mohican Valley Artists. Paintings, ceramics, photography and glass will be exhibited inside the mill.

There is something else occurring, when visitors come to the International Wine Festival at the Mill, they are also helping the Wolf Creek Grist Mill. The Mill is home to the 1830’s grist mill of Loudonville. The organization, Friends of The Wolf Creek Grist Mill Group, have successfully restored the mill to operating condition with the mission to have a complete historic village on the property, in order to preserve a vanishing part of heritage for future generations to enjoy & learn from. Smith said “Last year was the most successful wine festival we’ve had to date. With that success we were able to purchase a much needed new tractor that we use for maintenance, grounds keeping, building projects, and event setup and tear-down.  We also had the opportunity to purchase the adjacent property that we’ve been making plans for.” This year’s profits will help remodel the house on that property to accommodate much needed space for the several volunteers that help with the Mill.
