The Akron Zoo hosts a Trunk Show this December 1, 2010.

The Akron Zoo will host its 2nd annual Trunk Show Wednesday, December 1, 2010 from 4:00 – 7:30 p.m. In addition to the Zoo’s Gift Shop being open, twenty local artists and vendors featuring jewelry, art, photos and much more, will be on hand for guests to purchase merchandise. Admission is free to the event.

The Trunk Show will be held inside at the Zoo’s Welcome Center. The Welcome Center is located at the entrance of the zoo and free, close parking is available. Akron Zoo members will receive 20% off their total purchases during the Trunk Show. All proceeds from the Zoo’s Gift Shop go directly to the Zoo and a portion of the proceeds during the Trunk Show from every vendor will also go to support the Akron Zoo and its mission. For every $10 purchased, visitors will receive a raffle ticket to be entered into a drawing. Over twenty prizes will be raffled off including at least one prize from every vendor attending the Trunk Show. A complete list of vendors attending the show is available at http://www.akronzoo.org/

The 3,500-square foot store features items for newborns to adults including stuffed animals, apparel, jewelry, toys and much more. The zoo also has in stock its 5th annual holiday ornament, which this year features a bat to commemorate the Zoo’s year long celebration, the Year of the Bat.

The Akron Zoo is open 361 days a year. Winter hours are 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. and winter admission is $6 per person. Children under two are free and parking is $2.00. For more information visit www.akronzoo.org or call (330) 375-2550.
